Van Gerwen digs deep to defeat White and secure Grand Slam of Darts Quarter-Final spot

Michael van Gerwen is through to the Quarter-Finals at the Grand Slam of Darts respectively after defeating Ian White in a 10-7 victory.

It wasn't plain sailing though for Van Gerwen as he reeled off six of the last seven legs to defeat 'Diamond' who has recent history of defeating 'Mighty Mike'. He held his nerve though to set up a clash with Adrian Lewis.

White was brilliant to start off with taking three consecutive legs to break throw with a 110 checkout to lead 4-3 and two missed darts from MVG saw White take daylight at 5-3 up.

Van Gerwen went to one behind but at the interval, White was 6-4 up with Van Gerwen's back firmly against the wall with him potentially on the verge of heading out.

White though began to squander darts at double; eight of them in total and this allowed Van Gerwen to take the lead at 7-6 up. He began to build and was soon 9-7 up, how quickly this match turned.

It turned completely with Van Gerwen claiming victory from there, completing the ultimate turnaround against White.
