Anderson set for tantalising Grand Slam Quarter-Final clash with Price after edging past Thornton

Gary Anderson will take on Gerwyn Price nearly a year on from their infamous meeting at the Grand Slam of Darts, this time in the Quarter-Final stage after seeing off Robert Thornton.

Anderson had to come through a real tough test against Thornton though in an all Scottish affair only winning 10-8 and he was unconvincing at times against the resurgent Thorn.

Despite that though he came through successfully and it is a prospect that will appeal to a lot of Darts fans who will hope for similar needle to last year.

Thornton started excellently; he was in firm control of the all-Scottish tie at 4-1 including a 117 checkout to boot but three legs on the spin for Anderson put the impetus firmly on the latter as he tied it up with a 120 checkout.

More missed darts from The Thorn saw Anderson go 6-4 up and hit five legs in a row. It was the former's turn to show some real fight against Anderson.

He did and refused to lie down as he tied it up at 7-7 with a 115 checkout but another break of throw saw him move 8-7 up.

They exchanged break but neither looked convincing and this saw Anderson go one away. From there he concluded proceedings to win the tie and move through against the resurgent Scot who has had an excellent run this week.
