Michael van Gerwen has finally beat Glen Durrant for the first time as the world number one failed to win in their first four meetings.
The three-time world champion and three-time Lakeside champion met in the last sixteen on the third day of the PDC Autumn Series. Durrant had won three of the four previous matches against Van Gerwen, while the last showdown ended in a draw.
Last time the Dutchman missed two darts to defeat Duzza, before the Middlesbrough ace escaped with a draw in the Premier League Darts. Now Van Gerwen did it in style, as he overcame his rival 6-2 with 105 average.
Mighty Mike produced a strong start as he hit two 12-dart legs and a superb 11-darter to lead 4-0. A 15-darter in the sixth leg made it 5-1. Durrant took out 76 for 5-2, before Van Gerwen threw a 74 checkout to win 6-2.
