Michael van Gerwen beat Krzysztof Ratajski in the first round of the
World Grand Prix on Tuesday evening.
Devon Petersen awaits in the second round.
The South African has been on the rise in recent months. Since his collaboration with darts analyst
Wayne Mardle, Petersen's level has risen significantly and he won his first PDC title at the German Darts Championship in September.
Van Gerwen saw Mardle during the interview after his victory over Ratajski and could not resist handing the five-time World Cup semi-finalist a little tease.
"He's your boy, isn't he? I always used to be your boy, what's that all about? Are you cheating on me? I'm going to smash your boy'', said Van Gerwen, while he and Mardle were laughing.
The world number one will play Petersen on Thursday evening in the second round. Petersen defeated Jose de Sousa in straight sets in the first round.
