The draw for the 2022 PDC
World Darts Championship was made on Monday evening.
Michael van Gerwen will face Chas Barstow or John Norman Jnr in the second round.
Van Gerwen was at an exhibition at the time of the draw. "I don't know either of these possible opponents," said the three-time world champion in response to RTL 7. "I assume that I will not have too many problems to win this match, although I will certainly not take it too lightly. ."
Sick of defeat
The 32-year-old Dutchman lost last weekend in the quarterfinals of the Players Championship Finals against Peter Wright.
"I was really sick of it afterwards. Actually I was the better player, but because I missed far too many opportunities, Peter was able to work his way into the game. Only afterwards did he really start throwing well. Still, I want to remember the positive: I won against Gary Anderson and Raymond van Barneveld. So the form is good, I just need to fine-tune a few things towards the World Championship."
