The PDC Summer Series in the form of five Players Championship tournaments is scheduled for Wednesday through to Sunday. Michael van Gerwen is one of the main players involved in a field which only 11 Tour Card holders are not involved in.

It will be the first ranking tournaments since mid-March and like many Van Gerwen is not sure where his form will be when it restarts.
"Nobody knows where it really is now. It will take some getting used to in the beginning. Practice is different from tournaments. And if you have not played games for a long time, then suddenly five days in a row is quite tough. So it is difficult to estimate. But I don't watch the competition anyway, I don't care. It is about myself, where I will soon be, ”he tells De Telegraaf.
Where Van Gerwen has proved very successful on the Pro Tour circuit in the past, he is still waiting for his first ProTour tournament victory this season. In the first eight Players Championship tournaments, Mighty Mike made two finals, both of which he lost.
The number one in the world finds it difficult as to what goal he has in mind during the PDC Summer Series. “If I win zero out of five (Players Championship tournaments), Then I am certainly not satisfied. But if I don't win immediately and I do win the World Matchplay, then I think it's more than fine. ”
