Michael van Gerwen saw off Michael Smith in a thrilling conclusion to Brighton's Premier League Darts foray as he made it back-to-back weekly wins.
Another indicator that Van Gerwen is heading back to his best, he is glad for the confidence boost after a barren 18 months.
"It's been a while since I've been top of the table in any ranking. I feel good, I feel comfortable and I felt that on the stage," he said to Sky Sports.
"The weeks are long, we have to play a lot of tournaments but when you do well, it gives you a lot of pleasure."
"I'm starting to get somewhere and when you don't show it, it hurts. I know what I'm capable of, I can show everything but sometimes you need to take a little bit of time. I'm not doing too bad in the Premier League and the rest will come after it."
Next up he hopes is adding his first major since November 2020 and he believes it is close.
"It's a click away especially with the way I'm playing. I was playing like 93, 94 averages three years ago in the Premier League but now these days I have 100+ averages most of my games. That means you get somewhere and from there on you can build onto the next level and that's winning a big major."
