Michael van Gerwen claimed victory in the final World Series weekend of the year which saw the Australia and New Zealand tour come to an end at the NZ Darts Masters in Hamilton.

Van Gerwen smashed Raymond van Barneveld in a demolition win and he spoke afterwards about claiming the title admitting that he told his wife when he left home that he would win 2/3 and he delivered.
He also spoke about his mental ability compared to other players adding that he believes he is the strongest player and that bad games can't change that with Van Gerwen returning to form lately after a period of poor form.
“I am so happy to win this title in Hamilton, it has been a phenomenal tournament and the crowd has been amazing,” said Van Gerwen after the final.
“I told my wife before I left three weeks ago, I am going to win two of the three events whilst I’m away and I’m so happy to have done that.
“Mentally I am the strongest player, I know how good I am and no bad game will ever change that," he added.
“I can never be perfect all the time, I am not a robot but I know how strong I am and I know I am the best right now.”
