Van Gerwen sends message to Bunting after easing past Evans: "He is going to have to play the darts of his life to beat me"

Michael van Gerwen is successfully through to the Last 16 at the 2020 PDC World Championship after defeating Ricky Evans in a straight sets win.
Van Gerwen and Evans battled it out in a fast paced affair; he was pleased afterwards to claim the victory in a match that he openly admitted he enjoyed due to it's fast pace.
He also sent a message to Stephen Bunting saying that he will need to play the best game he ever has; in order to defeat him next round.
"I wasn't really in my comfort zone tonight; but I'm happy to get such a big win," said van Gerwen.
"I had to work hard to keep myself concentrated; so I am pleased that I did that. I think Ricky's fast pace helped me and I enjoy playing matches like this.
"Stephen is playing quite well but he is going to have to play the darts of his life to beat me."

- Maybe the supposed top players are burnt out from the endless travelling and tournaments, I just don't think they have the dedication or outright desire to win. I think they are more interested in the money and being popular, just keeping their rankings steady. The only thing that mattered to Phil Taylor was winning, not winning a few games to top up the money pot and seeking the fans attention. Maybe there is too many tournaments now and the enthusiasm is gone. This year especially has seen so many different winners and unexpected draws and line ups.richieburnettrocks14-11-2024
