Van Gerwen sums up atmosphere after latest Premier League win in Dublin: “It was like my first time playing in Rotterdam”

Michael van Gerwen was once again back in the winners’ circle at the Premier League in Dublin as he defeated William O’Connor 7-4.
O’Connor was part of one of the best walk ons in Premier League history on his debut and Van Gerwen himself loved it and compared it to the welcome he gets.
He also spoke about gaining the two points and admitted that he wasn’t playing at his best by any means.
"It was a phenomenal atmosphere tonight and I think for William it was like my first time playing in Rotterdam," said Van Gerwen.
"I've had a lot of good games against him in the past and he played okay tonight. It was tough for me and I had to fight for this win so I'm happy.
"There's more in the tank but I feel good and it's nice to be back on top of the table."

- Maybe the supposed top players are burnt out from the endless travelling and tournaments, I just don't think they have the dedication or outright desire to win. I think they are more interested in the money and being popular, just keeping their rankings steady. The only thing that mattered to Phil Taylor was winning, not winning a few games to top up the money pot and seeking the fans attention. Maybe there is too many tournaments now and the enthusiasm is gone. This year especially has seen so many different winners and unexpected draws and line ups.richieburnettrocks14-11-2024
