Van Gerwen surges past Searle in rout as Rock ends run of home hero Suljovic at Austrian Darts Open

Michael van Gerwen has very convincingly advanced to the last four at the Austrian Darts Open. In the quarter-finals, Ryan Seare was beaten 6-1.
Van Gerwen looked set for a tough match when Searle beat him in the first leg, but he recovered the deficit at lightning speed. A 12-darter made it 1-1 before Van Gerwen ran out to a 3-1 lead with a 13-darter and another 12-darter.
Searle missed two chances for 3-2 before Van Gerwen made it 4-1 via double 8. Then 'Mighty Mike' took the win with a 14-darter and a 71 finish.

Josh Rock will be Van Gerwen's opponent in the semi-final match. The Northern Irishman triumphed 6-4 against Austrian crowd favourite Mensur Suljovic in the last eight.
It is a maiden European Tour semi-final for Rock, who had a memorable battle with MVG at the Grand Slam of Darts which will take top billing in the semi-finals.
