Daryl Gurney has halted 'The Freeze' Danny Noppert with 'Superchin' pouncing on a poor display from the Dutchman to seal a semi-final spot at the
Austrian Darts Open.
After a fine victory over Nathan Aspinall (6-5) in the afternoon session, the Dutchman now could not get into his game. With an average of only 79, Noppert threw his worst match in ages. He saw the first four legs all go to Gurney. Only in the fifth leg did Noppert get on the scoreboard. That was his only leg, as the win went 6-1 to 'Superchin'.
In the semi-final match, Gurney will take on
Jonny Clayton. Thanks to a 90 finish and a 12-darter, 'The Ferret' took a 5-1 lead. With a 13-darter and a superb 141 finish, Cullen brought 'The Rockstar' back to 5-3, but Clayton decided the match with a 14-darter.
