The first Quarter-Final is confirmed at the
Dutch Darts Championship in Leeuwarden with home hero,
Michael van Gerwen set to face
Keane Barry this evening.
Barry was first up with his superb run continuing this weekend albeit having to punish three missed match darts in the process from Ryan Searle.
Punish he did with a 103 checkout to seal it in the deciding leg with a 92 average, four 180's in terms of statistics and it was a game he could've won sooner.
He went 4-1 and 5-3 up only to be broken when throwing for the match and Searle went on to send it all the way but proved to no avail as he missed match darts anyway.
Next up is Van Gerwen who eased through the motions as he saw off Martin Schindler 6-2.
It was a dominant success which included a 170 checkout after a poor start, he turned it on making it 4-1 with a 12-darter after the huge finish.
Schindler then hit 90 for 4-2, before Van Gerwen made it 5-2 via double 8. Schindler then missed four chances to make it 5-3, before Van Gerwen ended the match in style with a fine 116 check-out.
