Van Gerwen thrashes Wright with 103 average, set for semi-final clash with Clayton on Premier League Darts Night Two

Peter Wright came off a week which saw him seal the opening Premier League Darts night and win a ProTour while for Michael van Gerwen, it was an early exit in both.

This time around though and with rivalries renewed, it is 'Mighty Mike' who took the spoils sweeping aside an out-of-sorts 'Snakebite' with a 103 average and 75% on the doubles.

Wright couldn't produce his recent form averaging just 84.7 as he heads out early and straight to Wigan ahead of the next round of Players Championship action.

Next up for Van Gerwen though is a semi-final clash with another of his rivals who has turned the tables on him as of late in Jonny Clayton.

Clayton averaged 100 as he saw off Michael Smith who is close to home being from St Helens in a 6-3 victory but couldn't carry that home form into a tie with 'The Ferret'.

The defending champion averaged 100.8 with 75% on the doubles and a high checkout of 142 as he moved through.

After reaching the final last week albeit in a losing effort, the Welshman will look to extend his points tally tonight and gain the early impetus especially with Wright out early.
