Van Gerwen through to second successive European Tour final despite surviving match darts against Suljovic, set to face impressive Cullen

Michael van Gerwen is through to his second successive European Tour final but after his impressive display against James Wade, he rode his luck once more against Mensur Suljovic.

Suljovic went 3-1 up before Van Gerwen came back to take the lead with three consecutive legs to turn the match on his head. It was 'The Gentle' who took hold of proceedings though again as missed doubles continued to haunt Mighty Mike.

He missed 23 up to going 5-4 down against Suljovic and when the Austrian went over the hill at 6-4 up, it looked like Van Gerwen was heading out.

But at 6-5 up, Suljovic squandered four match darts and Van Gerwen forced a decider in which he smashed in a 140 checkout to survive.

He will now face off against Joe Cullen who sealed his spot against Michael Smith in a 7-3 victory in 'Bully Boy's best run on the European Tour for quite some time.

Despite that though, it will be 'The Rockstar' who will attempt to deny Van Gerwen a 33rd European Tour title after averaging 96, hitting four 180's and 7/9 on the doubles in an impressive display.
