Michael van Gerwen was absent from this weekend's Players Championship tournament in Hildesheim, Germany. Sunday showed why, as 'Mighty Mike' turned up in Zandvoort.
The Dutch coastal town hosted the annual F1 race in the Netherlands. Van Gerwen was there to encourage his sports colleague Max Verstappen. The Vlijmen native's presence was also noticed by the press, as released footage on Van Gerwen's social media showed him giving interviews to Viaplay and Sky Sports.
Van Gerwen wrote in a second post that he enjoyed the race, which was won by Verstappen. The F1 driver was then also congratulated by the 34-year-old darts player. ''Congrats Max on your 9th win in a row,'' the caption stated.
