Gian van Veen won a tournament on the PDC
Development Tour for the fourth time this season on Saturday afternoon. He beat Wessel Nijman after a Double Dutch final.
Van Veen reached the final after victories over Owen Roelofs (4-1), Levy Frauenfelder (4-1), Danny Jansen (4-3), Cam Crabtree (5-4) and Lewis Gurney (5-4), among others. Nijman had dealt with the likes of Pascal Rupprecht (4-3), Luke Littler (4-1), Bradley Brooks (5-4) and Jarred Cole (5-3).
In the final, Van Veen then triumphed 5-4 against his compatriot Nijman. With this title, Van Veen now leads the Development Tour Order of Merit after 13 out of 24 tournaments.
The PDC Development Tour is considered the breeding ground of the PDC. Talented players have the opportunity to further develop their gift on this circuit. Players may enter as soon as they reach the age of 16. They may then compete up to and including the season in which they turn 24.
Prize money breakdown during PDC Development Tour
Prize money of £15,000 is distributed per tournament, so the prize pool for the entire circuit of a total of 24 tournaments consists of £360,000.
From reaching the last 64, players can earn prize money, starting with £75. That amount then increases with each round. The winner collects a handsome £2,500.
