Keane Barry reached the quarter-finals of the 2022
UK Open for the first time in his career on Saturday night. A dream come true, he told Dartsnews.
The tournament marks the Irishman’s furthest run in a PDC major, something he is very happy with: ’’It’s great, a dream come true. Hopefully I’ll keep pushing on tomorrow (Sunday).’’
Barry’s round six-opponent was Ricky Evans, perhaps one of the few players that outpaces him when it comes to playing darts. Playing fast players has it challenges, ‘Dynamite’ explained. ’’Sometimes you can get caught up in the speed of his game, making you go too quick for your own liking. It probably wasn’t noticeable but I was trying to take my time a little bit.’’
Barry’s performances in Minehead have ensured he has reached the world’s top-64, something he has previously mentioned was a big goal of his. So that means he had to set himself a new target.
’’Just moving up the rankings. The top 32 now is the next target, that’s where you want to be to qualify for most of the majors.’’
