VIDEO: Brilliant Borland hits nine-dart finish to defeat Brooks in World Darts Championship epic

William Borland and Bradley Brooks served up a tungsten tussle for the ages at the 2021/22 PDC World Darts Championship with the Scot on debut producing an epic nine-dart finish to claim it.

A game befitting of a sudden death leg, Borland went 180, 177, 144 marking his debut on the Alexandra Palace in style in a match likely to be seen in the future between two of the best young prospects in the PDC.

Brooks hit a 180 and double two to break in the opening leg. It was another for 'Bamm Bamm' who hit a 91 checkout and he was one away from the set.

Borland missed a dart at a 69 checkout and Brooks pinned double 12 for the opening set averaging 112.

Borland stopped the rot but only after Brooks missed multiple darts to hold. A 68 checkout saw Borland go one away from levelling up in sets.

A 92 checkout saw him take the set to keep it interesting. The third set went to throw with Brooks taking it to a decider with Borland having the throw for a 2-1 lead.

A 40 checkout for a 13-dart leg saw Borland take the set and make it 2-1. He continued his turn around by claiming a break to make it 1-0.

A 148 checkout saw him consolidate it and see him go one away from victory. An 80 checkout saw Brooks let out emotion and hold as Borland looked to serve it out.

A 134 checkout silenced the Scot as Brooks sent it to a decider in the fourth set. He claimed it with a 98 checkout to make it 2-2 in sets.

Borland missed double 16 for a 131 checkout but returned for double 12. He pinned a 130 checkout on the bull to go one away once more.

Brooks kept himself in the tie with a timely break as he looked to force a decider. A 112 checkout did that.

Borland opened with a 180 and 177 and smashed in an incredible nine-dart finish to claim the victory.
