Ross Smith will face off against Stephen Bunting after breezing past Jeff Smith in straight sets in a hard act to follow after William Borland's brilliance at the PDC World Darts Championship.
Smith hit high checkouts of 144 and 116 with an 85 average and two 180's as he survived a late revival of sorts from the Canadian who was close to forcing another set.
It was Ross Smith who took the early break after Jeff missed 135 on the bull for a hold and it was a 93 checkout which saw 'Smudger' double his lead.
It was 'The Silencer' who got on the board on double 18 but it was the Deal ace who got the first set on the board to head into the break.
He sealed a hold to begin the second set with a break in the form of a 68 checkout to follow up. He produced a 41 checkout as he began to motor towards a 2-0 sets lead.
The one way traffic continued with a 116 checkout and followed that up with a 144 checkout to go one away.
The Canadian missed a shot at an 80 checkout but with 112 unable to be hit, he added a second leg on double one.
A scrappy leg saw Ross give Jeff one dart to break as he looked to claim a set back. The former pinned 75 on double 12 for the match after Jeff missed the chance for a set back.
