ITV ended an era yesterday with 17 years
coming to a close under the current format with many of the team that have presented free-to-air darts unlikely to follow on to the Winmau World Masters in January.
Ned Boulting, Alan Warriner-Little and Jacqui Oatley seemed to signal that they would not be returning with ITV Sport going a different direction. While for Chris Mason, Stuart Pyke and Mark Webster, they already work on Sky Sports or PDC televised content such as the European Tour so are potentially set to continue on given that the PDC (Matchroom) will now run the content going forward.
This will see darts continue in a bumper new deal albeit it is the last time that ITV will run it themselves and while many got nostalgic about it all, it was furthered by the brilliant package put together by team to highlight the 17 years. While the Grand Slam of Darts has been a Sky Sports staple for a long time, it started on ITV and the memories were all recounted on as darts comes to an end as we know it before on the channel.
