Luke Littler produced a stunning performance to etch his name into the history books at the 2025
Players Championship Finals. Over the course of the weekend in Minehead, he fired in 39 maximums, surpassing the previous record of 38 set by
Dave Chisnall back in 2016.
Littler, who played only a limited number of Players Championship events this year and therefore arrived in Minehead without his usual high seeding, once again underlined his class. He defeated Nathan Aspinall 11–8 in the final, holding his nerve when Aspinall closed the gap to 9–8, to seal his sixth major title of the season.
This latest triumph means ‘The Nuke’ has now won every major at least once — with the exception of the Masters and the European Championship. Still only 18, he looks primed to launch a serious assault on records long thought untouchable.
Racking up 39 maximums over a single Players Championship Finals weekend is no small feat. Chisnall’s mark had stood for nine years and was regarded as one of the event’s more prestigious statistical milestones. Toppling it only reinforces Littler’s status as one of the most prolific scorers in the PDC.
Big gap to second best
There was also a striking gap between Littler and the rest of the field in the 180 charts. Aspinall, runner-up in the tournament and in the maximum count, managed 27 in comparison. Josh Rock sat third with a still-respectable but distant tally of 20.
Littler now turns his attention to defending his PDC World Darts Championship crown. At the Alexandra Palace he opens against Lithuania’s Darius Labanauskas, and a win would set up a second-round meeting with either Mario Vandenbogaerde or David Davies.
