The final session of the European Darts Open last Sunday was one to savour. In the last seven matches of the tournament, no game was won by more than three legs difference.
Danny Noppert managed to win 6-4 over Damon Heta. Then Michael van Gerwen went down 6-4 against Gerwyn Price after a cracker.
Rob Cross then ended the tournament of Ricardo Pietreczko (6-5), who had previously beaten Peter Wright and Stephen Bunting, among others. Next, Dirk van Duijvenbode became the last semi-finalist after a 6-3 on Josh Rock.
The big dessert came in the final, although it will not have felt like dessert to Van Duijvenbode. 'Aubergenius' missed two match darts to win the Euro Tour tournament in Leverkusen. Instead of 8-6 for Van Duijvenbode, it then became 7-8 for Price, who won his seventh Euro Tour title.
