It was once again
Luke Humphries who managed to steal the show on Thursday night in
Premier League Darts. During the eighth round of play in Dublin, "Cool Hand Luke" struck for the third consecutive week.
The world number one proved once again to be a class act. With averages of 106.09, 104.87 and 105.53, he outplayed the competition. Only in the semifinals did Humphries run into some trouble.
The 29-year-old Englishman floored
Peter Wright 6-1, before
Nathan Aspinall gave the reigning world champion an excellent match. In the end, however, "The Asp" was no match for the scoring prowess of Humphries, who took a 6-4 win.
The final against
Michael Smith quickly went Humphries' way. He won the first four legs of the match and eventually managed to put a 6-2 final score on the scoreboard. By winning his third consecutive weekly title, 'Cool Hand Luke' has significantly strengthened his leading position in Premier League Darts. He has a seven-point lead over number two
Michael van Gerwen, who had lost to
Gerwyn Price in his opening match in Dublin.
