"I'd average 71, if I win I don't care. Definitely the performance, it's an added bonus. I've been practicing all week leading up to this and I'm quite a lazy person I don't like practicing so watching Luke Woodhouse win two games gave me the kick up the backside I need because he's one of my best mates and I want to be with him here after Christmas," said Rydz.

"I've openly admitted on the stage I've been absolutely shocking for the last two years. But if this is a turning point then happy days. I know I can beat everyone, I've beat most of them on the floor, ProTour and Europeans. I know if my game turns up I can beat anyone. If I do that for another few games then I'm World Champion. But might retire as well."

"Less pressure and practicing it a bit more. If my personal life is good then darts go good. That just shows you my personal life is quite good. If you go through a bad spell then all you hear is bad news. My head's been clear so touch wood it stays clear until Sunday."

He also spoke about his attitude and also Ryan Joyce seeking help off Glen Durrant, he said he would listen to anyone in regards to helping him curb the emotion and disrespect he feels he shows players.

"I've openly said that I've missed events as I didn't want to turn up, didn't want to play, couldn't be bothered and it's the wrong attitude to have. But I'm a lazy person."

"My first time playing darts was 12 years ago, my first ever game of darts was against Ryan Joyce. I've got a lot of time for Ryan, a lot of time for Glen (Durrant). They've got my numbers. If there's any advice, I'd be more than happy for them to ring us. I would take their advice over anything."

"I'm a fruitcake. I'll happily admit it. I'm an absolute nutcase. That's just me as a person. I like to show motion, I don't like to give it. I hate giving it as it just drains the energy out of you. When I get beat, I think that can show a little bit more respect to everyone. And if I've disrespected anyone, I would like to apologize now, because I don't think I'm a disrespectful person. I do need to see someone about that. Maybe I need to someone like Glen. I'm trying to."
