The 2025 Players Championship Finals took place in Minehead last weekend, and tournament sponsor Ladbrokes posted a video on Instagram in which the players had to put a “special” question to one another. It produced some entertaining answers.
Martin Schindler was given the honour of kicking things off. “Have you ever shaved your armpits?” the German number one asked whoever was the next person to sit down for an interview.
That turned out to be Stephen Bunting, who quite understandably was a little lost for words at the question posed. “No. Is that a thing in Germany?” he says instantly, before clarifying. “I've never done that. I can just about do my chin, let alone my armpits! That's the strangest question I've ever been asked."
Bunting then passed on his own question to a colleague: “When it's cold, have you ever had hand warmers in your pockets?” Gary Anderson didn’t hesitate. “No,” he replied. “Being Scottish — I’m used to the cold. I’d rather play in the cold than in the heat.”
It was then Anderson’s turn to pose a question. “Who would you like to be stuck with on a desert island with?” Peter Wright, Anderson's long time World Cup of Darts partner, didn’t need long to come up with an answer.
"I think I've said this in the past, but I'll stick by it. Paul Nicholson," says Snakebite. "I think he could start a fire and build me a camp. Make up some dodgy darts out of sticks and stuff like that."
As for Wright's question to the next person: "What's your favourite meal?" Nathan Aspinall answered. "I'm going to sound like a snob here but it is a chateaubriand! Steak for anyone that doesn't know, with a Roquefort sauce and nice chips.”
Aspinall was also allowed to wrap things up with the final question: “Who's the most irritating on Tour?” Chris Dobey barely had to think. “I tell you what, Cameron Menzies is up there,” he said with a smile. “He's just hard work to play against. You don't know what you are going to get with him."
