Luke Littler continues to come close to a record breaking 5th nine-darter this year. At the PDC World Darts Championship on Saturday night, the 17-year-old Englishman narroqly missed double 12 for a perfect leg against Ryan Meikle.

After three difficult first sets in his match against Meikle, Littler was completely unleashed in the fourth set. In the first leg of set four, "The Nuke" was fired two 180 scores, but then it went wrong on the seventh arrow. The following leg, Littler again started with two 180 scores. The seventh and eighth darts again hit the treble, but the teen sensation then missed the double 12 to pop the roof off at Alexandra Palace.

It was an expensive miss by Littler, because in throwing a nine darter, he had collected the mega bonus of 60,000 pounds. Moreover, with every nine-darter at the World Darts Championship, £60,000 is also transferred to charity and a fan in the room receives the same amount.
