Playing until they hit two of the perfect sporting achievements, Michael van Gerwen nearly put the darts side on the front foot just missing double 18 for an exquisite perfect leg playing with Damon Heta.
Van Gerwen is part of a larger contingent of darting stars this time playing in the Paddy Power Perfect Challenge, devised by the sponsors of the PDC World Darts Championship it sees Van Gerwen as well as Heta, Luke Humphries, Gerwyn Price, Jonny Clayton, Nathan Aspinall trying to hit two perfect legs to win the challenge.
It continues for however long it goes on for and also includes snooker and golf so a 147 or hole-in-one. A debate that has long roared on in the sport, snooker won it last year to the delight of Shaun Murphy who was gloating about how he'd hit a nine-darter before down his local pub.
Only for Van Gerwen and Humphries to be left laughing as he could barely register a good score when asked to hit a nine-dart finish. While Murphy won last year, darts will be out for revenge and golf has also come close already to hitting the first one. Luca Brecel in the snooker element also came close to a 147 earlier in the day.
