(VIDEO) Premier League Darts lookback: Durrant's darting woes continue during opening block

With Premier League Darts set to resume tonight (Monday April 19), DartsNews takes a look back at each participant and how they started the tournament. The final one takes a look at Glen Durrant.

Coming into this year's tournament, Durrant is the defending champion but his woes on the oche have been there for all to see during the first half.

After winning last year's tournament, Durrant was struck down with long Covid and barring a few glimmers of form has not been himself since and for fans of the three-time Lakeside World Champion, it has been hard to watch.

He began his tournament by going down 7-3 to Nathan Aspinall in a repeat of last year's final averaging 87 before losing by the same scoreline with a similar average against Jonny Clayton.

But while he got some legs on the board against the aforementioned duo, he found himself on the end of a 7-0 whitewash against Dimitri van den Bergh. 7-2 and 7-3 defeats followed to Gary Anderson and James Wade.

As is the nature of the Premier League, the return doesn't get any easier for Duzza with a tie against Michael van Gerwen followed by Jose de Sousa and Peter Wright.

Will we see a rejuvenated Durrant who is ready to banish his darting demons and record some victories to keep it interesting or will he lose his title defence early by bowing out on Judgement Night winless? An interesting block awaits the Teesside ace.
