Gerwyn Price made history on Thursday night by becoming the first dart player ever to throw a nine-darter in two different matches on the same day on television.
The Welshman threw his first perfect leg in his semi-final against Michael van Gerwen during the third week of the Premier League Darts in Belfast. That was only his second nine-darter on television, after he also threw one at the World Darts Championship earlier this year.
Just one hour later came his third TV nine-darter. In this week's final against James Wade, Price started the third leg with two 180 scores, before throwing in a 141 finish for his second perfect leg of the night.
It’s been said often enough now however the booing (and its creeping in against all players) has somehow got to be reigned in. maybe the players are getting used to it to a degree but for the televisual viewer its an irritating background. Price was on fire, almost peerless, would have been if not for some missed doubling and the others were all pretty good (even Smith). I think that the other players see the showmanship side to Price now and join in (watch Wade). I was dubious of the new format and perhaps towards the end of the series it may become a bit repetitive but so far with three different winners its lived up to the billing.
