(VIDEO) "That's out of order": Wayne Mardle gets stitched up with hilarious strapline during World Darts Championship final coverage

Often the butt of the jokes when it comes to his five times in BDO and PDC that he reached the semi-finals of the World Darts Championship, Wayne Mardle was stitched up royally by Sky Sports.
On stage with Emma Paton and Mark Webster discussing the tie between Luke Littler and Gian van Veen, he hilariously masterminded his own downfall as the Sky Sports team were quick on the mark to stitch him up.
"I've never been on the stage on World final night," jested Mardle interrupting Emma Paton. "This is something special."
Paton sarcastically said welcome. His strapline on Sky Sports then changed to what he said prior: "Never been on stage for the World Championship Final."
Mardle lost in the semi-finals in the BDO back in 2001 as well as the PDC in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008 famously losing to Kirk Shepherd in the semi-finals in the latter after being installed as the tournament favourite. Shepherd was ranked 142nd and was a rank outsider qualifier with Mardle having dumped out Phil Taylor previously to become favourite.

- fact is, the majority of people don't agree with you (read i.e. any reddit post on the subject, where the consensus is the likes of mardle and dawson are the best out there). personally i'll miss oatley but i consider most of the others to be dinosaurs with the combined personality of a cardboard box. warriner-little's "THE BULL" gimmick is affected and cringeworthy and he's never had the charisma for a commentary job.colt18-01-2026
- i'm going to assume he said 15 major finals, not 50. in any case, van veen spanked him in the worlds and beat him in the other major final he played, so he absolutely has a case for being better than him right now, even if legacy wise he's still far behind for now.colt18-01-2026

- The PDC bulldozed ITV into changing their line up just to keep the darts. I mean, just look at that picture above of that clockslacker Mardull..... Webster ticks a certain box I always liked Glenn Durrant the player but all of his interviews were cringe worthy and he is incredibly awkward now. Forget the rest of the waste of spaces. The previous ITV show was absolutely outstanding and fantastic, it didn't need changing. Alan Warriner is right to be incensed with the way he was dropped, again Alan is exceptionally knowledgeable and had that very dry wit and personality. The only worthy commentators from SKY are John Part and Laura Turner. I actually really liked Devon Petersen, who has massive amounts of charisma and character, I think he would make a decent commentator and what about Matthew Edgar, he has an excellent YouTube channel and is very knowledgeable and interesting. The bottom line is I will never watch darts on ITV with this line uprichieburnettrocks15-01-2026
