Vincent van der Voort advises Gerwyn Price to get a mentor: ''He would benefit from a better plan"

It has been three seasons since Gerwyn Price last managed to win a ranking major. When "The Iceman" won the Grand Slam of Darts in 2021, he was still ranked No. 1 in the world. He has since dropped to fifth place.

Fellow darter Vincent van der Voort feels Price does not appear fully focused at the oche at tournaments. He notices a change in behavior with "The Iceman" over the years.

''With Price right now you feel like he's not quite there,'' Van der Voort told Double Top. ''He's not playing bad, but it's not the Price of a year ago who was screaming across that stage and showing that he was just there to win. This year he's already given up a tournament, and at the Masters he didn't feel like it. You don't really feel like he's all there.''

According to Van der Voort, Price would do well to hire a mentor. ''It's also the disadvantage with him that he does everything by himself. He has no management, he has no supervisor, no one to kick his ass once in a while. He has to solve it all by himself, he chooses that consciously. He would benefit from a better plan,'' Van der Voort said.
