Last week the Belgian darts world was briefly upside down when details leaked out about the feud between
Kim Huybrechts on the one hand and
Dimitri Van den Bergh and
Mike De Decker on the other.
Vincent van der Voort, fellow darter on the Pro Tour, reacted to the incident at
'Double Top'. "I actually find it quite funny," he opened. "But I don't understand why the managers of those players are not going to sit down together and make sure this stops.
"Kim was the Belgian number one for a long time and Dimitri was his pupil. But in the meantime Dimitri became better than him, then maybe some friction came and that's where the misery started. What exactly happened doesn't really interest me, I find it mostly childish."
Van Barneveld vs. Stompé
Van der Voort, however, also has experience with quarrels between players. "When I joined the Dutch national team in the early 2000s there was always a lot of trouble, between Co Stompé and
Raymond van Barneveld it didn't clash at all.
"Then there was finally a decision to keep Co out and choose Raymond. It was only after Raymond left for the PDC that Co was called up again. However, back then you didn't have social media, that got a lot less resonance back then.
"It just comes down to finding a way for yourself and dealing only with those you like. Just ignore those others. I also have a problem with Co, but I just ignore him."
