The Professional Darts Corporation has announced that Belgian broadcaster VTM has further expanded its broadcasting rights for darts. The new agreement stipulates that in the coming years all PDC tournaments will be available across the channel’s platforms. This gives the sport even greater visibility in Belgium.
The partnership between the PDC and VTM has been running since 2020 and is now being significantly expanded. Belgian fans have already been able to watch the most important tournaments in recent years, but from 2027 the offering will grow further. All European Tour events will then be broadcast live on VTM 2, VTM 4, and the streaming platform VTM GO.
In addition to the European Tour, the biggest events will of course remain part of the package, such as the World Darts Championship, the Premier League, and the European Tour events in Belgium itself. This gives viewers year-round access to live darts. According to the PDC, the new agreement underlines how strongly the sport has developed in Belgium. Interest in darts has increased sharply in recent years, both on television and in the arenas.
The Belgian Darts Open in Wieze has now become a fixture on the European Tour calendar. The Premier League night at the AFAS Arena in Antwerp earlier this year was also a complete sell-out, which, according to the organization, shows that demand for live darts in Belgium is high. Top players like Luke Littler and Michael van Gerwen have repeatedly expressed their appreciation for the Belgian crowd in recent years, which is known for its passionate atmosphere. As a result, Belgium is seen within the PDC as one of the most important growth markets at the moment.

PDC pleased with expansion

PDC Chief Executive Matt Porter is therefore happy with the new agreement. “We’re delighted to extend and expand our partnership with VTM,” said Porter. “The broadcaster has played a key role in the growth of darts in Belgium in recent years.”
He believes the fact that all tournaments will soon be broadcast is an important step. "We’re delighted to extend and expand our partnership with VTM, who have been instrumental in the growth of darts in Belgium in recent years.
“The increased coverage across all PDC tournaments is a significant step forward and underlines both the strength of the partnership and the continued rise of the sport in the region.
“We look forward to working with VTM to further build on this momentum and bring even more top-class darts to fans in Belgium.”

Investing in the next generation

VTM is not only broadcasting matches but also investing in the development of new players. With projects such as the VTM 2 Darts Academy and the VTM Next Gen Darts Academy, young Belgian darters receive support on their path to the professional circuit.
Several talents are currently competing on the Development Tour who hope to follow in the footsteps of Dimitri Van den Bergh and Mike De Decker in the future. Both Belgians have won major PDC tournaments in recent years and serve as role models for the next generation.
