James Wade is through to the Quarter-Finals of The
Masters after an efficient and dominant display against Chris Dobey to win 10-4 with a 97.8 average and four 180's.
Wade will look to put World Championship disappointment behind him with a potential tie against Michael van Gerwen next up if Mighty Mike can defeat Jonny Clayton this evening.
Wade surged into a 3-1 lead to begin the tie after Dobey missed a dart to hold and in typical Machine fashion, he was back for a break of throw.
A classy 116 checkout saw Wade continue his opening brilliance to go 4-1 up at the first interval. Dobey got a leg back and had multiple darts for a break but spurned them and Wade pinned double six to head 5-2 up.
Dobey left 32 from a 72 set up but Wade claimed a second break of the Dobey throw to go 6-2 ahead. Another hold went the way of Wade as he went 7-2 up and towards the finishing line.
A 108 checkout saw the first break of the Wade throw though for Dobey at 7-3 down. On return, Dobey was waiting but Wade last dart in hand held.
Wade kicked off with a third maximum and went one away with a 96 checkout and a break with Dobey again sitting waiting for a chance to hold.
Another 180 attempted to snuff out any hope for Dobey but he replied with a maximum of his own. He missed a dart at bull for a break but was back with Wade going into treble 11 off a 62 which gave him only one at double 10 which he missed. Dobey returned for double eight to break again and prolong the tie.
But next time he pounced with a 140 leaving 68 which he pinned on double 10 with Dobey sat on 58 for another leg.
