James Wade has eased through to a first PDC
World Darts Championship semi-final after seeing off Mervyn King in a demolition win for 'The Machine'.
Wade is the first player through continuing his march as he finally looks to claim an elusive part of his resume in a game where he took advantage of an out of sorts King.
King was made to rue two missed darts in the first set and Wade in usual Machine fashion snatched it in the decider to hit the front.
King produced an 86 checkout on the bull to lead in set two but again it went again to a decider and despite an average of just 86.7, Wade took the second set.
Wade didn’t have it as difficult in the third set breezing through to a 3-0 lead and he was soon cruising towards the semi-finals after King spurned another deciding set and ‘The Machine’ pinned double 20 once more to go one away.
He continued his march holding on double 20 to go one away in the fifth set and despite a leg back from King, Wade held on double 10 to seal the win.
