James Wade as one of the most successful players in darting history believes at times he is underestimated and underappreciated.
Especially by those who follow darts now who only see him for his personality at times as opposed to his achievements, he admitted to an interview for Unicorn Darts.
"The new era and new age of darts fans just think I'm a miserable bloke with a beard," he said to Unicorn Darts.
Another tag Wade gets is an unlucky one due to the nine-dart finishes hit against him and 'The Machine' saw the Gerwyn Price game as different and that if he would have hit a specific double, some of the plaudits may have gone his way.
"If I'd have hit the double 10, I'd have won the game. So it's a bit strange that all the publicity is Gerwyn Price played amazing and he did play very well and he's a great bloke and I get on really well with him but if I'd have hit the double 10, he would have lost 6-4."
"You get brushed aside. Perhaps if it was a different player playing him, it would have been a complaintive both sided game maybe. I look back on all the nine-darters, players try to slow them down on the approach, if someone hits 180-180, I get out their way as it's a big thing a nine-darter. Not as big as it used to be but I've never inconvenienced someone or slowed them down on a nine-darter, I've never done that."
