Wade on lack of amateur players in Grand Slam of Darts: "I think that is one of the most stupid decisions the PDC made to involve BDO"

James Wade eased past Boris Krcmar in order to keep his Grand Slam of Darts hopes alive and he didn't hold back on his display against Jim Williams in his group opener.

"Happy to win, happy to be moving just a little bit further forward of a chance of qualifying so that's cool," said Wade post match.

"I've been doing it 20 years, yesterday was just crap and the better player unfortunately won and it wasn't me. I thought if turned up yesterday and just played like half mast I probably would have been alright but I wasn't and I didn't so it's been and done."

Thoughts on end of BDO representation

This year saw the end of BDO representation and Wade is another player glad to see the back of it.

"I think that is one of the most stupid decisions the PDC made to involve BDO players when it affects PDC rankings. It was crazy. It's unfortunate that some PDC players were punished for that and I thought that it was completely unfair."

"I just thought it was crazy that those who play for 24 months to gather their rankings and their prize money and everything and you get kicked in the backside by inviting players from other organisations. It was great to do that but stop this from being a ranked tournament if you're going to do that."
