Wade still thinking of potential Premier League Darts spot at Masters: "But I have to put that to the back of my mind"

The last PDC World Darts Championship was not a success for James Wade. He lost in his first game 3-2 to Jim WIlliams.

Wade was pleased though that Michael Smith sealed the World title. "I formed a great bond with Bully Boy when we were England teammates at the World Cup last year. It was clear to me that it would not be long before he broke his major tournament duck. Hopefully, I will partner him again in red and white in the future," he told the Daily Star.

But he is looking forward and not back now and still has his sights on the Premier League if the Masters winner gets in again.

"I have started 2023 with renewed vigour and really believe that I can now kick my game back into gear. Last year was a strange one for me, but I am rested and motivated and I really want to perform at the highest level."

"I can’t make any promises about results, but I guarantee you that it has been a long time since I have worked this hard. I have been practising regularly and will go into competitions knowing that I have done everything to give myself the best chance of producing my top game.

"That will start in Milton Keynes on Friday, January 27. There is always pressure at the event as it will be the last chance to secure a Premier League spot. But I have to put that to the back of my mind and just get back to doing what I do best."
