Wales defeat Germany to claim World Cup final spot

Wales will face England in the final of the World Cup of Darts after the duo of Jonny Clayton and Gerwyn Price who were favourites coming into the tournament saw off Germany's Gabriel Clemens and Max Hopp in a clean sweep.

To begin, Gerwyn Price saw off Gabriel Clemens in a 4-2 win despite not being at his best at all on the doubles only hitting 28% of them in the end but he registered the first point for Wales to put them in a good early position.

This doubling was seen at the start of the contest with Price missing the big number and a dart at double four and Clemens was handed an instant break of throw on double 10.

But 'The German Giant' himself had some finishing woes which saw him miss a dart at double 20 and Price broke back on double five for 1-1.

Price streaked away from there into a 3-1 lead taking out 116 in the process but squandered two match darts which gave Clemens a route back in.

This didn't happen though next time around with Price getting down to double 20 and despite missing a shot at 82, he hit double 20 second time around with Clemens getting himself down to 38 to win it.

As a result, it was the turn of Jonny Clayton and Max Hopp to do battle, either Wales would make it through to the final or a pairs decider would be fought out.

In the end, it was a straight route through for Wales with Clayton claiming a 4-2 victory with a 103.79 average, three 180's and 50% on the doubles.

Again in this tie it was the tale of the immediate break with 'The Ferret' going 1-0 up and he doubled his advantage with a 12-darter on double eight to make it 2-0.

Hopp got off the mark from there with double 16 to make it 2-1 but Clayton continued to keep himself at arms length with a 98 checkout seeing Wales go on the verge.

He missed tops for a 125 for the match and Hopp kept himself in proceedings but a 121 sealed a brilliant end for Clayton.
