The afternoon session at the Grand Slam of Darts is coming towards it's conclusion with Jermaine Wattimena and Nathan Aspinall easing through their group openers and giving their opponents a potential mountain to climb.
Wattimena won his spot due to the PDC Winter Series and was in superb form last week compared to his opponent Glen Durrant who returned after spending a period of self-isolation after suffering from COVID-19.
He showed in his opener that he isn't yet back to his best with a 78 average while the Dutchman pounced with a 5-1 win with 5/7 on the doubles.
While Aspinall saw off only one of two BDO representatives this year in Wayne Warren, the BDO Men's World Champion who was making his return to the big stage for the first time since the infamous World Championship at the Indigo.
It wasn't a great return for the Welshman as he succumbed in a whitewash to 'The Asp' in a 5-0 defeat averaging only 70 while the latter was up at 96.3 with a high checkout of 124 despite only hitting 5/17 on doubles.
