Van den Bergh hits Grand Slam record average in stunning display

The opening session of the Grand Slam of Darts is complete with Dimitri van den Bergh hitting a record average in a stunning win over Ricky Evans.

Van den Bergh averaged 114.85 which is the highest average in a single game in the tournament to see off Ricky Evans in a 5-1 win which included en route a missed double 12 for a nine-dart finish.

This included two 180's, a high checkout of 140 and 50% on his doubles as hee sent out a statement against the Kettering ace.

While Gary Anderson also made a winning start despite obviously struggling with a knee injury which saw him pull out of most of the PDC Winter Series.

Anderson saw off Czech youngster Adam Gawlas who went 2-1 up but fell in a 5-3 defeat despite 'The Flying Scotsman' averaging just 83.5 but it is still a winning start for the two time World Champion.
