When the PDC announced the lineup for this year's
Premier League Darts, it was arguably the most controversial selection in the history of the event.
Sky Sports Darts commentators
Mark Webster and
Stuart Pyke believe
Dirk van Duijvenbode will be involved next year.
"He's got a bit of grit and obviously you're looking at characters for the Premier League and you'd love him in there. His walk-on is different class," Webster tells the Love the Darts podcast. "Down the rankings as well there's a lot of Dutch players now, they just keep coming."
"From where he was to where he is, he is box office," Pyke agrees. "He is a Premier League star in the making. Whether it's next year or the year after he is box office and people love him."
"He throws a damn good dart too doesn't he," the long-time Sky Sports commentator continues. "He's the whole package once he wins a major."
Van Duijvenbode was in attendance in Rotterdam for the Premier League last Thursday night soaking up the atmosphere and helping to pump up the crowd and Emma Paton asks the commentary duo what is holding the Aubergenius back from winning that big title.
"It is a confidence thing," Webster explains. "But he's developing, he's won three Pro Tours this year, he's on the verge of the top 10 and like I said the Premier League week in and week out is made for him."
