Ricky Evans has hit back hard on social media at a group of critics who attacked him personally after a recent remark about his fatigue. The 35-year-old Englishman, known for his lightning-fast playing style, made it clear he has no time for the negative responses he received.

Earlier post sparked a flood of reactions

Evans had admitted in an interview with Tungsten Tales that he was “knackered” from the extensive travel that comes with professional darts. That remark, however, triggered a stream of abusive replies from online users, who called him “fat,” “useless,” and even a “virgin.”
The Englishman then decided to fight back with a clear message. “Love social media,” Evans began his response with biting sarcasm. He then took aim at the critics: “Weirdos telling me I’m fat, useless and a virgin all because I said I was knackered from travelling.”

“Keep watching me on your TV screen, lads”

Evans didn’t leave it there, though. In his closing line, he delivered a further message to his critics: “Keep watching me on your TV screens boys.”
With that, he stressed he won’t be distracted by the negativity and will simply keep doing what he does best: performing at the highest level.
Evans, a long-time PDC professional, is known as a stage entertainer and a popular figure among darts fans. His response appears primarily intended to set boundaries and make it clear that criticism of performance is not the same as personal insults.

The incident once again shines a light on the dark side of social media within the darts world. While fans are closer to their idols than ever, that proximity clearly has a downside. Evans’ message is clear in that respect: respect remains the foundation, online as well. Far too often nowadays, players are buried under hate messages and accusations.
Evans, currently the world number 45, will be back in action early next week. The next Players Championships are scheduled in Leicester then.
