Peter Wright found his way past Krzysztof Ratajski narrowly albeit after spurning a lead of 6-0 at one point to win through 10-8 at the 2024
Masters as he won through to the Quarter-Finals on Sunday.
But it was more the Premier League that he was up for discussing post match. He let out an outpouring of emotion after the win and said it was the shut ITV pundit and commentator, Chris Mason up for saying that Chris Dobey should've been picked for the weekly roadshow instead. 'Snakebite' said that Dobey hasn't even won a proper major and called winning the Masters last year 'Mickey Mouse'. He said that in his eyes the resume he holds has more weight than one title.
"It was to shut Chris Mason up saying Chris Dobey should be in the Premier League. What's he won? He won a Masters, a Mickey Mouse tournament. It's all he's won. Has he won a European Championship? Has he won a major? A proper major, no he hasn't," said Wright to Online Darts.
"Yes he was a better player last year, but so what. I won two World titles, two World Cups, two European Championships and a Matchplay."
But by the same token, he admits that he is lucky to be involved in the weekly tournament and that it is not his fault that due to Luke Humphries sweeping up all but the European Championship that he was picked.
"I've always said I was lucky to get into the Premier League. The reason I got into the Premier League was that Luke Humphries won four tournaments at the end, it's not my fault no-one tried to stop him. I'm going to start playing darts properly in the Premier League so I'll shut everyone up."
