Normally players would be over the moon with a whitewash win. This feeling was not represented by James Wade after he demolished a very poor Dave Chisnall 6-0 in the second round of the International Darts Open.

'The Machine' did not have to come out of second gear. Chisnall was not able to get to a double, slightly aided by the clinical nature of Wade who eased away before a whopping 138 checkout really compounded his advantage and piled more misery on 'Chizzy.'
The eight-time European Tour champion continued to struggle for any form, a recent trend. Wade pinned tops for an 82 checkout which got the job done in a very commanding manner, leaving Chisnall's World Matchplay hopes almost in tatters.

Wade sombre after 6-0 mauling

Wade was not in a celebrating mood when speaking directly after the match, feeling sorry for his opponent after breezing into the third round in Riesa.
“There’s nothing worse than a professional dishing out a whitewash," he stated. That’s not the way darts players work. It’s great for me, but it doesn’t sit right."
While he admitted that Chisnall was not at his best, only averaging 82, he was not a fan of the 'whitewash' term. "Dave didn’t play well. I played a little bit better. I’m onwards and upwards and he’s not, but ‘whitewash’ is a s****y term, sorry.”

Obviously being a professional darter and fierce competitor, Wade was hoping that Chisnall would find no fortune on the oche. However, when it was all done and dusted he felt dearly for Chisnall. “Well no, I wanted him to hit absolutely nothing. But when you do win 6–0, it’s crap. It’s not nice, because you know how that other person feels," he admitted.

"Dave’s one of the good guys in darts. He’s not one of the bad guys. There’s lots of others I wish it upon, but Dave isn’t one of them. Anyway, I’m not going to shatter over my performance. I played well, I deserved to win, I did win, but yeah, it’s a bit crappy.”
Up next is a matchup against Wessel Nijman. Already having won six titles this year, including a maiden triumph on the European Tour, it will be a very tough test for Wade. However, in their four prior contests, Wade has come out on winner. A welcoming stat against a player with a bright future in the sport. “There you go. If he has a career like mine, he’d do alright, wouldn’t he," he concluded.
