White enjoying darts again after a difficult period: "I want to get in that World Matchplay"

Opening up the Friday evening session of the Dutch Darts Championship with a 6-2 victory over Arron Monk, 'Diamond' Ian White continued his impressive resurgence.

"I keep going on about it but covid has knocked us right down and it's not a true ranking," White reveals in a post-match interview with Darts Actueel. "But yeah, I'm moving my way back up and that's where I want to be. I want to get in that World Matchplay that's the main thing."

A former World Matchplay quarter-finalist, White has seen his world ranking drop dramatically in recent times with the Stoke-on-Trent thrower now a lowly 43 in the PDC Order of Merit. Key to a resurgence is the fact he is enjoying himself once again White believes.

"I was speaking to someone before and it's been the last two months, non-stop every weekend. I don't want to moan about it because I'm enjoying it," he says. "It's nice to be back to where I was. During covid and the year after that, I struggled so it's nice to be back."
