White moves into maiden major televised semi-final after thrilling victory over O'Connor

Ian White is finally into a major TV semi-final after defeating William O'Connor in a 10-9 victory to end proceedings in the afternoon session at the Players Championship Finals.

White has as of late been the nearly man when it comes to reaching the latter stages showing superb form away from TV and in the early rounds but has never made it to the last four, as a result he was understandably ecstatic after defeating O'Connor.

He sealed it in style as well hitting an 11-dart finish for victory in the decider as he showed real bottle under the pressure.

O'Connor started excellently and he opened up proceedings going 3-1 up over White with a 102 average and at the interval had the impetus despite only being one leg ahead.

This continue with him maintaining a two leg cushion at 4-2 and 5-3 up respectively and again at the interval he was 6-4 ahead and the doubts would have understandably crept in for White.

He answered them though making it level at 6-6 with back to back legs and despite O'Connor going back ahead, White broke throw and went one away from there after the former missed his chance to break back.

Despite that, O'Connor took out 105 to save the match but it was White who was throwing and he produced a brilliant leg to move through and now the semi-final line-up is confirmed.
