Chris Dobey and
Joe Cullen are both top players at the PDC. In addition, they are also big soccer fans.
Dobey is an avid supporter of Newcastle United. For example, he speaks highly of Dutch defender Sven Botman. "He is fantastic and has made our defense a lot more solid," he says.
"I think it was a steal for the price we got him for. It was a big signing for us. He's got to (play for the Dutch squad). Van der Ven is fantastic, they've got a lot to choose from. So I'd definitely consider Sven Botman, but it's better for us if he doesn't play and doesn't get injured."
Fellow darter Joe Cullen is also a fierce soccer fan, having supported Manchester United for many years and given the Dutch publication, he was quizzed about Erik Ten Hag. "I think Ten Hag is the right man at the minute," says Cullen.
"The way the owners have run the club over the last decade has not been good enough. With Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS coming in, they want to run the club right. Give Ten Hag a chance. He may not be the right man, but I think everyone deserves a chance. It's been a merry go round, it's been the same cycle every 18 months. It's not on the manager completely, it's the players."
He also remarked about Luke Littler being a big United fan and sarcastically said that he's not jealous at all of the 17-year-old getting to go to games and meet the players. "He's not as big a fan as me, but he gets to go to the games. I'm not at all jealous, I've got a son who's almost the same age as Luke, it's strange. Luke's a great lad and it's even better that he's a red."
