Ricky Evans managed to see off James Wade in his second round at the
2026 PDC World Darts Championship after a sensational match. ‘Rapid Ricky’ walked on to a fitting Christmas track during the first two matches before Christmas. But now that he returns after the holidays, that no longer applies. So he will have to pick a different song.
Evans is known for his festive walk-ons. He comes on to Merry Christmas Everyone by Shakin’ Stevens, always paired with a quirky Christmas outfit. However, as he gets to return after Christmas thanks to his win over Wade, he’ll need to find another track. A Dutch song perhaps? If we take Evans at his word, that could happen.
‘Ricky van Evans’
You might be thinking: “Why would Ricky Evans walk on to a Dutch song?” Well, before his match, Sky made a mistake when announcing all the day’s fixtures. Next to Evans’s name they displayed a Dutch flag, and ‘Rapid Ricky’ certainly noticed. "Apparently I'm Dutch now, so put on your clogs and let's have some fun with windmills!" he posted on his socials, also changing his name to ‘Ricky van Evans’.
Evans is crazy enough to actually walk on with a Dutch track and a Dutch-themed outfit in his third round against Charlie Manby. Still, he seems to lean more toward another song that went down well with the fans before. "It'll probably be Madonna. That was a huge success last year. Even for someone who's not normally a fan of the song, the crowd seemed to love it," he said after his win over Wade.
Last year, the 35-year-old walked on to ‘Like a Prayer.’ "I think I can do anything and they'll still sing along," Evans said. "So it'll probably be Madonna, but with a different shirt. The Christmas shirt is gone. The Christmas pants are gone. But I'll still be the same funny me. I'll still be just as funny, I'll still be the same person," he concluded.
